The meeting of the board members of the Institute of Internal Auditors-Armenia with VivaCell-MTS General Manager and employers took place in the Company headquarters. President of IIA-Armenia, Chief Audit Executive of the Central Bank of Armenia Ara Chalabyan and VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian announced about VivaCell-MTS membership in the Institute of Internal Auditors-Armenia.
“It is difficult to overestimate the importance of internal audit in ensuring effective and transparent business administration. To say it in medical terms, internal audit is the early detection and prevention of problems. It is aimed at revealing risks at different levels as well as incompliances to internal regulations and procedures and to the RA legislation,” VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian said.
Ara Chalabyan spoke about the importance of the initiatives of the IIA in boosting the corporate governance culture in Armenia and presented to VivaCell-MTS employees the achievements of the Central Bank of Armenia in the sphere of internal audit as well as the mission and objectives of the Institute of Internal Auditors-Armenia as a non-governmental organization working on voluntary basis.
It was also announced that the second international conference of the IIA-Armenia under the topic “How to drive changes” will take place on September 15-16, 2016 in Yerevan. VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian, Senior Vice-Chair of IIA-Global Angela Witzany and Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia Vakhtang Abrahamyan will make opening speeches (details on conf2016.iia.am website).
The meeting was followed by a Q/A session with Ara Chalabyan. The speaker emphasized the importance of presenting Armenia in international professional platforms as a country with innovative solutions in the sphere of governance.
Institute of Internal Auditors-Armenia NGO was founded in 2013 (www.iia.am). Currently it has 165 members from 57 organizations (including 5 VivaCell-MTS employees). IIA-Armenia is a full member of the Institute of Internal Auditors-Global that unites 105 affiliates all over the world. In the CIS, also Russia and Ukraine are IIA-Global affiliates, besides Armenia.
