VivaCell-MTS provides its network for nation-wide implementation of the 911/112 number localization

Now, VivaCell-MTS subscribers in Armavir and Tavush regions also can reach the Emergency Situations Service local offices dialing 911/112.

In the past, when contacting the 911, the residents would reach the Call Center of the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency and Territorial Administration in Yerevan, which handled the call by instructing the local office to take appropriate action.

Not long ago VivaCell-MTS had made this service available for its subscribers living in Lori, Ararat, Shirak, Gegharquninq and Syuniq regions.

“Timely response in disaster or crisis situations is essential in terms of saving the lives of people or strategic locations affected. VivaCell-MTS provides its cutting-edge technical resources and powerful network capacities for nation-wide implementation of the 911/112 number localization. Taking into account that there are several risk areas in Armenia, related to natural disasters, the Company has been supporting the Ministry with key several projects aimed at sustaining national capacity in management of crisis and emergency situations”, VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian said.

Owing to special equipment installed recently in frames of a joint project implemented by VivaCell-MTS and the Ministry of Emergency and Territorial Administration, the call is now redirected to the local office of the Emergency Situations Service based on the information received from the cellular tower handling the call from a resident to either 911 or 112 free numbers. The innovation is aimed at shortening the response time of the rescue service in emergency situations.

The new system will be gradually expanded across all regions of the country.
