Orange ready to comply with PSRC claim

Orange Armenia will extend the coverage of its network in the following rural areas: Ditsmayr, Geghanush, Gomaran, Bnunis (Syunik region) and Antaramut, Kachachut (Lori region).

Yesterday The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) ordered all mobile phone operators to provide mobile network and broadband internet to 18 rural settlements. Each company has to provide coverage of public mobile network in 6 settlements.

All these villages will be covered with the modern technology allowing up to 21.6 Mbps download speed, company informs.

«We have started with an up to 7.2 Mbps capacity network and 83% coverage on November 5, 2009, and today I am pleased to state that our services are available to more than 95% of the Armenian population. Moreover, in Yerevan, Gumri and Vanadzor we offer up to 42Mbps capacity network, and up to 21Mbps in the rest of the country. In addition to network extension in the mentioned villages, Orange Armenia will continue to expand its network, with due care for its performance and quality. Even though Orange has overachieved its coverage obligations under the license, I am very much pleased that we will be able to provide a solution for the villages that are not yet covered by any operator», Francis Gelibter, Orange Armenia CEO, commented.
