Armenian President signs decrees on awarding British rock stars Orders of Honor

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsian signed decrees on awarding British rock stars Orders of Honor.

Mediamax reports that “Armenia Grateful 2 Rock” project was presented in Yerevan today. At the presentation, Deputy Head of the President’s Administration Vigen Sargsian read out the decrees on awarding most active participants of “Rock Aid Armenia” project Orders of Honor “for significant and continuous assistance to Armenia and the Armenian people”.

Orders of Honor are awarded to:

- Organizer of “Rock Aid Armenia” project, Head of Australian Charity Organization “Do Something” Jon Dee;
- Vocalist of “Deep Purple” band Ian Gillan;
- Guitarist of “Black Sabbath” band Tony Iommi;
- Guitarist of “Queen” band Brian May;
- Guitarist of “Pink Floyd” band David Gilmour;
- Keyboard player of “Asia” band Geoff Downes.

Within the framework of “Rock Aid Armenia”, the British rock stars recorded the cover version of Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” song in 1989 and issued a special “Earthquake Album”. All the proceeds from sales of the album were sent to Armenia, which had suffered from disastrous Spitak earthquake in 1988. 

“Armenia Grateful 2 Rock” project aims at expressing gratitude to participants of “Rock Aid Armenia”.

“Armenia Grateful 2 Rock” is jointly realized by Mediamax News Agency and Australian “Do Something” Organization, supported by Armenian President’s Administration.

General sponsor of the project is “ArmRosGazprom” Company, which occupies the 1st place in the list of top taxpayers in Armenia. Armenia Marriott Hotel is the project’s partner.
