Telcell does not expect decline in payment volume in its network because of introduction of “Top-up” service of VivaCell-MTS

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Telcell payment system does not expect decline in payment volume in its terminal network as a result of introduction of “Top-up” service by VivaCell-MTS.

Executive Director of Telcell Aram Azatyan said this in an interview to Mediamax.

“With introduction of “Top-up”, VivaCell-MTS made another step along the path of developing electronic micro payments in Armenia. I will remind that in August, 2007, basing on a contract with Telcell, VivaCell-MTS became the first company in Armenia, which offered its subscribers the opportunity to pay for accounts with the use of payment terminals. The level of technologic development allows realizing payments, having an ordinary cell phone at hand. I believe that the day, when with the use of a cell phone any employee of any foodstuffs store will be able to receive payments for utility or any other services from the population, is not far off.

Concerning the possibility of decline in payment volumes through our payment system, I am sure that this will not happen. Since, one can make payments for a wide spectrum of services through terminals; the number of people, who use terminals, constantly increases. “Top-up” service will become to a greater extent an alternative for scratch cards and will assist gradual withdrawal of the latter from the market”, Aram Azatyan stated.
