Professional entrepreneur in ICT sector Debu Purkayastha said today he would like to invest in Armenians startups.
The former M&A Principal at Google, who arrived in Yerevan from London, made this statement in the frames of the regional semi-final of Eurasia Mobile Challenge.
Debu Purkayastha also observed that he pays no attention to technological trends when he makes investments.
“I would like to invest in Armenian startups. I look at the team, at the quality of people, and how ambitious they are. After this the idea is, and what the ability of this team to scale is. That’s what I am looking for,” Debu Purkayastha said.
The entrepreneur expressed his hope that in next 5-10 years a billion dollar company would come out of Armenia and onto the global market.
“Armenian IT market is a fast growing market. The quality of startups and entrepreneurs that I saw here was excellent. Armenia has very quality education, especially in core subjects of physics and math. And that is a good base to have in order to build tech companies,” the businessman said, stating he hoped that “next time we meet there would be a billion dollar startup in this room”.
Touching on tech trends on the global market, Debu Purkayastha singled out artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, e-health, big data and Internet of Things.
