13 children with autism go to general education school with VivaCell-MTS support

13 children with autism from the International Child Development Center (ICDC) have started attending secondary schools.

The duration of the school year at the International Child Development Center is 11 months. The children attending the center have autism. Here they receive complex specialized educational treatment: speech, art, sand, music, occupational therapy and more. To achieve maximum treatment effectiveness, trainings are regularly organized for the specialists working at the center. For them, the most valuable accomplishment is the increase in the number of children, who, at the end of the school year, have acquired necessary communication skills.

For already 7 years VivaCell-MTS has been supporting the organization of individual, intensive treatment programs for children with autism. The cooperation of the Company with the International Child Development Center has given tangible results: in the frames of the inclusive education program, 13 out of the 35 children have started attending secondary schools. Moreover, after the end of the school, year most of the children are looking forward at spending the summer holidays with their families. Progress is visible both in respect of knowledge acquisition and self-support skills and in the ability of integrating into the society.

The positive changes recorded in the behavior of children with autism and the advancement of development of their mental abilities are the most significant achievements of 2014-2015 school year at ICDC. The children are now able to overcome the difficulties caused by their developmental specifics: they have gained communicative competence; they can interact, learn the norms necessary for integrating into the society, are willing to make firm bonds with their peers and ready to acquire new knowledge.

The integration of the children attending the center into secondary school inclusive programs started seven years ago as a pilot project. At the beginning, the project involved just one child with autism. Owing to the success of the program and the ongoing support by VivaCell-MTS, the number of beneficiaries grew year by year and, already in 2015, has reached a milestone of 13 children attending secondary schools in the frames of the inclusive education program.

The fruitful cooperation between the International Child Development Center and VivaCell-MTS will be continuous.
