MNP introduction in Azerbaijan is delayed due to technical issues

Delays of introduction of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service in Azerbaijani mobile operators' networks are linked to some unsettled technical issues, stated Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Almir Velizade.

According to him, the operators should be technically ready for the launch of the new service and prepare the whole infrastructure for it. Three operators(Bakcell, Azercell and Azerfon) already signed contracts on the launch of the service.

Normative and legal documents regulating the procedure of migration of subscriber numbers in the operator networks are already adopted. Necessary technical equipment is installed in the central base and the testings are conducted.

The MNP service is expected to be free. You can use the service once in three months.

It should be noted that the service will be launched in Armenia in early 2014.
