VimpelCom invested $327mln in Armenia during 6 years

Yerevan/Mediamax/. “ArmenTel” (Beeline trademark) CEO Igor Klimko said today that the volume of investments of VimpelCom in Armenia since 2006 has totaled almost $327mln.

The head of the company said this at a press conference today dedicated to the 6th anniversary of entrance of VimpelCom group of companies to the Armenian market. The total amount of taxes paid by “ArmenTel” during 6 years stood at AMD 97mln.

“If in 2006 the company’s mobile network covered 88.8% of the Armenian population, this year the index made 99.9%,” Igor Klimko said.

According to him, the level of digitalization of fixed telephone network has significantly expanded. If in 2006 the level of digitalization in Armenia made 48%, this year it has reached 82%. In Yerevan the level of digitalization grew from 50% in 2006 to 100% in 2012.

The number of users of Hi-Line broadband Internet has also significantly grown: from 14 000 in 2009 to 150 000 in 2012.

Igor Klimko did not unveil the company’s plans for 2013, promising “surprises in the nearest possible time.”  He also announced the launch of the 3d stage of the program for enhancing the service quality.

““ArmenTel” is going to make big investments in the further enhancement of customer service of mobile and fixed networks. In particular, we plan to increase the number of offices in the short-term perspective as well as provide additional staff for the most popular types of services,” said Igor Klimko.
