Yerevan/Mediamax/. ArmenTel stated today that “On June 20, Armenian media republished information which had appeared on the Facebook “wall” of one of the public figures according to which ArmenTel allegedly sent its subscribers unauthorized messages encouraging emigration”.
“ArmenTel officially states that it has nothing to do with the mailing. The company’s current policy prohibits dissemination of any messages of political character or messages which may directly or indirectly inflict harm to the Republic of Armenia. ArmenTel strongly condemns the facts of sending such messages and urges the citizens and media to avoid unfounded accusations against mobile operators for disseminating sms-spam.
There are numerous companies in Armenia which legally or illegally send ads to subscribers of mobile operators through the internet as well. In case of getting dubious messages, we urge you to immediately inform the press services of the mobile operators and competent bodies if needed”, the statement reads.
