Yerevan/Mediamax/. Vice President of France Telecom-Orange on Europe Benoit Scheen visited Armenia in 2011 to get acquainted with the results of Orange Armenia’s and its employees’ activities.
During the meetings with the Armenian journalists, he said that he was glad to see the success Orange’s made in Armenia.
“Over 2.5 years, Orange invested about EUR 250mln in Armenia and 186 of them are capital investments. The company aims to become an active and powerful economic player in Armenia implementing social, cultural and educational projects simultaneously with business activities. Orange will remain innovative and loyal and Armenia”, he said.
Speaking about the plans for 2012, Benoit Scheen noted that “the company will keep introducing new services. These will be surprises as the company’s competitors react to new offers very quickly”.
He also noted that the company has long-term projects in Armenia. “When an operator starts its activities in a country where the market is filled with current operators it doesn’t build its business plan based on short-term projects and doesn’t assume it will get a profit in 1-2 years. We knew about this before entering Armenia. We don’t expect the company will bear profits at once. An operator needs 5-7 years to get a profit”, he said.
Touching upon the activity of Orange Armenia CEO Bruno Duthoit, Benoit Scheen said: “Bruno Duthoit is a very famous personality in France Telecom-Orange Group and he is also one of the best experts. It’s not his first time he has launched a new operator in a new country. He has set up new enterprises from the very scratch for several times. Owing to his work and experience did we reach this results and this is only the start”.
