Orange Foundation is launched in Armenia

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Today Orange announced the official launch of the Orange Foundation in Armenia.

With the launch of Orange Armenia Foundation, Orange investments in corporate philanthropy in Armenia will gain further strength, with actions focusing on the following key areas: community development, children, health & disability.

Bruno Duthoit, Orange Armenia CEO, said: “ I am proud that Orange brings a new approach in the field of corporate philanthropy as well, stimulating the culture of corporate foundations by large companies. This will allow to make this field better coornidated, better meeting society’s needs and more transparent. We are delighted to launch the Foundation in Armenia, reaffirming our commitment to investing in social projects. We are now entering a new stage in the Orange presence in Armenia, and it’s a new level of our commitment to look beyond the business.”

Mary Lisa Durban, Orange Foundation responsible for Europe, Middle East and Asia, said: “We are delighted to welcome Armenia as the 11th country in the Orange Foundation family. The Orange Foundation continues to expand its presence to help people communicate better, in particular those who need our help because of their disability, lack of education or access to culture. I am happy to announce today that for the start of Orange Foundation in Armenia the global Orange Foundation has allotted 100,000 Euros to support the philanthropic activities of 2011.”

Nazareth Seferian, General Secretary of the Orange Foundation in Armenia said that the Orange Armenia Foundation will work based both on Armenia’s needs and in line with the corporate philanthropy strategy of the Group. The main focus of work in Armenia will be on children and community development.

Orange Armenia Foundation brings to 11 the number of foundations active in the Orange global footprint. Orange Armenia joined the network of foundations, including France, Spain, Senegal, Mali, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Poland, Slovakia, Republic of Moldova and Dominican Republic.

Since its creation in 1987, the Orange Foundation is the main structure within the Orange Group realizing charitable and philanthropy projects. Considering communication as the main stimuli of social development, Orange Foundation supports projects making communication more accessible to everyone.
