Yerevan /Mediamax/. As to the level of software support piracy prevalence, Armenian yields to only Georgia and Bangladesh.

Legal Advisor of BSA Narine Mkrtchyan noted that the level of SS piracy prevalence in Armenia over the past year decreased by 3 percentage points and makes 92% now.
Narine Mkrtchyan welcomed the establishment of an Interdepartmental Committee for Copyright Protection by the government, noting that the Committee will contribute to further decrease of computer piracy level in Armenia.
Head of Microsoft representative office in Armenia Grigor Barseghyan noted that pirated disks and SS seriously harm Armenian economy, expressing opinion that hardly any major representative of world IT industry will invest in a country where copyright is not respected.
Representative of the General Department for Fighting Organized Crime in the Armenian Police Artur Varderesyan in his turn stated that in defending copyright the Police needs the assistance of those, whose rights are violated, “while only 5-6 declarations on facts of copyright violation are received by the Police annually”.
