Armenia occupies 114th place among 134 countries in “Networked Readiness Index”

Yerevan /Mediamax/. In Annual Global Report on Information Technologies of World Economic Forum (WEF), Armenia occupied the 114th place among 134 countries as to “Networked Readiness Index” (NRI), which estimates the level of information technologies’ development as to 67 parameters.

Mediamax reports that as to the level of market environment in the sphere of information technologies and telecommunications, Armenia occupied the 120th place. In particular, as to availability of venture capital, Armenia is in the 130th place, as to compliance of the country’s financial sector with ICT sector requirements – in the 107th place, as to availability of modern technologies – in the 116th place and as to export of advanced technology production – in the 88th place.

In the given rating, Armenia occupied one of the last places as to the level of competition of internet service providers (127th place).

As t the level of legislation, regulating information technologies and telecommunications, Armenia occupied the 105th place, and as to the level of intellectual property protection – 108th place.

Armenia also occupies low positions as to the level of education in the sphere of information technologies. So, as to the level of teaching mathematics and exact sciences, Armenia is in the 76th place, as to the level of access to internet at schools – in 103rd place, and as to the level of cooperation between universities and ICT sector companies – 116th place.

Besides, WEF gave a low assessment to the level of prioritization of ICT sector by the country’s government (120th place).

Azerbaijan and Georgia occupy respectively 60th and 88th positions in the rating as to the “Networked Readiness Index”.
