In 2012 VivaCell-MTS has made AMD 45 million of social investment in constructing and installation of 8 units of Zenith anti-hail system in Karakert, Lernagog, Shenik, Nor Artamet and Argina villages of Armavir region.
Additionally, in year 2012, the company has allocated AMD 15 million for the construction of 3 more anti-hail stations, this time in the Araks and Arevadasht villages of Armavir region.
The automatically performing anti-hail stations is controlled and guided remotely by sending SMS messages from a mobile phone, via VivaCell-MTS’ 3G network, using a specially-defined tariff. One can receive complete operational information about the performance of the station by sending respective SMS messages. The automatically performing anti-hail stations (without a maintenance team) feed from a restorable energy source – consumed solar power. The anti-hail stations are using user-friendly systems, easy to operate. VivaCell-MTS’ network is being utilized for agricultural purposes for the fourth year in a row, and has proven to be highly effective. Before, anti-hail systems started utilizing 4 years ago the communication was being controlled via wireless radio modem, which has proven to be quite ineffective.
“Agriculture is the most vulnerable yet a key strategic sphere of the Armenian economy. Unfortunately, in this sphere, the output of hard work and considerable investment - the crops, can disappear as a result of natural disaster just in a few minutes. This is a huge loss for farmers. Yet we should acknowledge that each of us is affected by this problem as this is a huge loss caused to the national economy, to each and every family, both in cities and villages. The huge anti-hail programs carried out by VivaCell-MTS in a systematic way stems from this approach. As a company with Armenian identity, VivaCell-MTS supports the creation of conditions for better quality of life in our Homeland,” VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian commented.
All in all, 2008 through 2012, VivaCell-MTS provided AMD 180 million for the construction and installation of 28 anti-hail stations.
