Yerevan/Mediamax/. 3G internet penetration level in Armenia is the highest in the Southern Caucasus and one of the highest indices in the Eastern Europe, said ArmenTel CEO Igor Klimko.
Speaking at ArmTech 2011 conference in Yerevan today, Igor Klimko referred to the research conducted by Informa British Company. According to the research, the 3G internet penetration level in Armenia makes 33.2% whereas the same index makes 12.18% and 17.68% in Georgia and Azerbaijan respectively.
“According to the latest reports by the Armenian Public Services Regulation Commission, the number of mobile internet users in Armenia exceeded 1mln thus having ensured 3-fold growth in the services of broadband mobile internet over the last 3 years”, said Igor Klimko.
“Independent analysts indicate 19.3% growth of internet users in Armenia in the second quarter of 2011 against the same period of 2010”, said Igor Klimko adding that ArmenTel registered 144.07% growth of broadband internet subscribers in the second quarter of 2011.
According to the ArmenTel CEO, these figures show that the internet is still the force of the growth of the telecommunication sector in Armenia.
