E-Commerce is a priority direction for Visa’s business in Armenia

Yerevan/Mediamax/. International Visa payment system discusses with Armenian banks the chance of issuing licenses for servicing internet payments, made by foreign card holders.

Mediamax reports that Visa Business Development Manager in Armenia, Georgia and Moldova Irina Kamkhadze said this in Yerevan today.

According to her, Armenian banks take interest in development of e-commerce and Visa discussed with them the details of undergoing the certification necessary for it.

“Licenses for servicing internet payments are provided on individual basis, and all 10 Armenian Visa member banks have the chance to get them”, Irina Kamkhadze said, adding that technologic readiness of the banks is first of all necessary for that.

Representative of the payment system informed that e-commerce, along with the increase in the number of trade outlets with the option of cashless trade, is a priority business development direction for Visa in Armenia.

“Visa has great potential in Armenia. If the growth in the number of cash machines in Armenia made 3% last year, the growth of trade outlets, where Visa cards are accepted, made 46%. This fact evidences dynamic growth of cashless trade in the country”, Irina Kamkhadze said.
