UITE presented priority directions for its activity this year

Putting the Center for Internet Traffic Exchange into operation, improvement of business conditions in IT sphere, assistance for beginner IT companies and realization of programs to increase education quality in the sphere of information technologies are the priority directions for the activity of the Union of IT Enterprises (UITE) of Armenia in 2010.

Mediamax reports that the President of the Union, General Director of Sourcio Company Hovhannes Avoyan said this at the 10th jubilee congress today.

He noted that there is serious lack of qualified specialists in the sphere of IT observed in Armenia, and UITE will soon present a program on reforming education in the given sphere to the government.

Hovhannes Avoyan also stated that the Union will continue actively cooperating with the State Revenue Committee, aiming at further facilitation of import and export procedures for IT products.

“Despite the 17% growth, registered last year, IT sector in Armenia has lived through serious difficulties, as a result of which certain companies were forced to stop their activity”, Hovhannes Avoyan stated.

He informed that UITE will take up efforts for resuming the activity of companies, which experience difficulties, and will actively assist beginner enterprises in the sector.

Executive Director of the Union Karen Vardanyan informed that UITE incomes in 2009 made about 109mln AMD, 54.4mln of which were received as a result of organizing measures, 40.9mln represented grants and budget funding, and 13.6mln were the membership fees.
