Yerevan /Mediamax/. Ministry of Economy of Armenia understands the concern of market participants in connection with implementation of “Computer for all” pilot program and has held a number of meetings with participants of computer equipment retail market.
Mediamax was informed on this by the Head of High and Information Technologies Department of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia Vache Kirakosyan.
According to him, companies expressed concern that “Unicomp”, as the partner of Hewlett Packard (HP) (in cooperation with which the pilot project is being implemented) in Armenia, has gained competitive advantage as compared to the remaining participants of computer equipment retail market.
“We explained to them that in the nearest future the pilot program will end and it does not aim at selling computers”, Vache Kirakosyan stated, explaining that the Ministry and “Enterprise Incubator Foundation” strive for elaborating the final mechanism for implementing the main stage of the project.
“There will be a mechanism elaborated, with the help of which all market participants, who want to participate in the program, will be given that opportunity if they meet certain requirements”, Vache Kirakosyan stated, noting that the requirements will be related to both the external look of computer equipment stores and the quality of services provided. Another obligatory requirement is the sale of computers with licensed software support.
“The mechanism, which we are elaborating, is not related to sale of production of any particular company”, Vache Kirakosyan assured. He informed that they plan to have completed the elaboration of the mechanism for “Computer for all” program by the end of December and start its implementation early next year.
