“GNC-Alfa” starts providing wholesale internet to Armenian providers

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Starting from October 15, “GNC-Alfa” will start providing wholesale internet to Armenian providers.

Mediamax was informed in “GNC-Alfa” that provision of services became possible as a result of putting Yerevan-Agarak section of the fiber-optic network to operation and connecting it to Iranian fiber-optic network. “As a result, Armenia gained a reliable alternative exit to world telecommunication systems through the territory of Iran”, the company noted.

Starting from October 1, 2009, “GNC-Alfa” offered a number of major providers in Armenia to carry out testing of connection quality. Basing on the received positive responses, the company decided to start commercial provision of the service.

“Our company attaches great importance to the issue of consequent reduction of prices for internet and is sure that the entry of a new main operator will contribute to that. Our starting tariffs, published at the website www.gnc.am, are lower than the tariffs, which have been in effect in the Armenian market so far. We will make efforts for prices for wholesale internet in Armenia in the nearest future to stop being a factor, hindering penetration of the service”, the company stated.

At present, “GNC-Alfa” is building the northern section of its network. It is planned that the basic line of the north main will be put into operation in the first quarter of 2010 and will secure 2 more international exits through the territory of Georgia.
