Empowering Women: Safe YOU Expands to Romania as Its First EU Venture

Safe YOU, a digital solution dedicated to promoting safety & empowering women, proudly announces its launch in Romania, scheduled for June.

This marks Safe YOU's entry into its first European Union (EU) country, signifying a significant milestone in its mission to promote women's safety and empowerment worldwide.

The Safe YOU mobile app combats Violence Against Women by offering immediate emergency assistance and connecting users with a wide range of support services, including Civil Society Organizations, individual professionals, international organizations, and state authorities.

Recognizing the vulnerable position of Ukrainian women refugees in Romania, Safe YOU prioritizes their safety and well-being by offering a secure environment and fostering a sense of community. The project is set to tackle the unique challenges encountered by these women, offering them comprehensive support encompassing psychological & legal consultations, community engagement, educational resources, and more to aid in rebuilding their lives.

To execute its mission effectively, Safe YOU has established a strategic partnership with the Sensiblu Foundation in Romania. The foundation will serve as the implementing partner during the initiative's mission, ensuring efficient delivery of services and support to beneficiaries.

In fact, one in four women in Romania experiences physical or sexual assault in their lifetime. Therefore, initiatives like SafeYOU, which prioritize women's safety and well-being, foster empowering connections, and offer updated resources on domestic abuse prevention are crucial. SafeYOU aims to build a strong, supportive network for both Ukrainian and Romanian women. This collective approach not only empowers individuals but also strengthens the overall resilience of the community. The initiative has garnered significant interest from various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and governmental agencies, reflecting the collective determination to address the pressing issue of women's safety in Romania. Safe YOU is proud to collaborate with the National Agency for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men (ANES), a governmental agency dedicated to promoting gender equality in the country.

Safe YOU's commitment to fostering inclusive partnerships extends beyond NGOs and government agencies to include diplomatic missions in Romania, in particular forging a strong working relationship with the Armenian Embassy in Romania.

The official launch event of Safe YOU in Romania is scheduled for the 3rd of June, where all partners and interested parties will come together to commemorate the project’s commencement and reaffirm their dedication to ensuring women's safety and empowerment in the country.
